Short holiday courses

You can learn to touch-type in just four days during the School Holidays at a TypeRight Intensive Course that runs for 3 hours each day on 4 weekdays.

Following the success of our touch-typing clubs in schools we recognise that there are some children whose busy school commitments make it difficult for them to attend our after-school sessions. With that in mind we organise intensive courses during the School Holidays. Students must bring their own lap-tops (PC or Mac) and headphones. TypeRight provides each student with a home-user version of the software programme used in all our courses and a colour coded USB keyboard that has to be plugged in for the lessons. These are both yours to keep so you can put in extra practice between sessions and after the course.

Students are individually tutored as they follow an on-screen programme. Thereafter they move on to TypeRight’s own programme of teaching aids including copy typing and blindfold dictation exercises. Touch-typing is a skill-for-life that will give students a measurable advantage as they progress with their education through School and University and on into the world of work.

TypeRight use a number of different venues for these clubs. They are normally in a private room attached to a neighbourhood café or bar so the atmosphere is relaxed but the learning is intense! The courses generally start at about 10:30 or 11:00 and each days tuition lasts for three hours with a short break half way through. Students don’t have to get up quite as early as they do in term time and their afternoons are free but they are expected to do some additional practice at home between sessions.

Courses are advertised on Facebook and Twitter. They are suitable for novices or useful as a refresher for students with intermediate skill and experience. There are generally a maximum of 12 places and we get a high level of interest in the courses so places are allocated on a strictly first come first served basis. Parents wishing to express their interest, and to receive further detailed information, can request prior notification of courses by registering their interest in advance with Amanda at info@typeright.org.uk .
